SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - Oct 2, 2012) - Zoomingo, the shopping discovery app that lets shoppers find all the best sales both locally and online, today announced a new version for Android tablets, one of the fastest growing segments of the mobile market today. Redesigned to take advantage of the larger tablet screen sizes, the new version provides consumers with a highly visual and interactive shopping experience, while helping them discover the best deals locally or those pinned online through the popular Pinterest site.
"Shoppers are increasingly using tablets for shopping purposes with traffic to shopping sites growing by 350% in the last year. The new Zoomingo tablet version is an excellent companion to the Zoomingo smartphone app, encouraging shoppers to immerse themselves in a visually pleasing browsing experience to discover the best local and online deals before heading out on their shopping trips," said Shirish Nadkarni, CEO of Zoomingo.
The Zoomingo tablet app leverages the larger screen real estate to display large attractive images of sale items along with images of similar items on sale. Zoomingo's proprietary ZoomSense technology remembers the shopper's store preferences and leverages Pinterest popularity and Zoomingo Hot or Not data to surface the best deals matching the user's shopping profile. An integrated mapping feature allows the user to quickly locate nearby stores and plan their shopping trip. Users can save local items to their shopping list and take the shopping list with them with the Zoomingo app on their Android or iPhone smartphone. Items that are available online can be purchased immediately through the merchant's ecommerce site. If a user finds an attractive item but the price is not right, they can choose to "watch" the item and get notified instantly when the price drops.
A top-rated shopping app that has been featured in the national print and broadcast media (including "Life Lift" on the Oprah blog) and a top ten app in its category in the Apple AppStore, Zoomingo -- a take on "Zoom in and go" -- provides a highly visual shopping experience that displays the best local and online deals for the top 100 retailers in the US across a wide range of categories including Women, Men, Kids, Home, Electronics, Sports & Fitness. Users can provide their Pinterest ID and have Zoomingo automatically track their shopping related pins and notify them when any item goes on sale.
Zoomingo is available for download free of charge in both the Apple AppStore and Google Play. For more information on Zoomingo, please visit us at www.Zoomingo.com, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/Zoomingo, and on Twitter via @Zoomingo.
Zoomingo was co-founded by Krishnan Seshadrinathan and Shirish Nadkarni, who also co-founded Livemocha, the world's largest language learning website with more than 12 million users. Nadkarni also founded mobile email pioneer TeamOn, which was acquired by RIM in 2002. Nadkarni left Livemocha in 2011 and had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with his wife -- an avid shopper. The experience of going from one store to another in the mall to find interesting things on sale quickly became tedious. Often, his wife might find an item, but not buy it because she wasn't sure if there was something similar that was cheaper in another store. As a self-described "typical male shopper," Nadkarni found the process time-consuming and frustrating, and searched for an app to help. Price comparison apps weren't always reliable, and retailer mobile apps were geared to making online purchases. Nadkarni knew there had to be a better way -- and the idea of Zoomingo was born.
