BELLEVUE, WA--(Marketwire - Nov 1, 2012) - Zoomingo, the innovative shopping app that lets shoppers find all the best deals in their local stores and online, today launched a new version that now lets consumers shop for the best deals by mall location, just in time for holiday shopping. The new version includes a variety of features to encourage and reward shoppers for going to their local mall, including a new game that lets shoppers earn points and compete for a daily cash prize whenever they visit their local mall. The app will display the latest sales as they happen including Black Friday deals as soon as they are published by the leading retailers.
The new version of Zoomingo creates a virtual Geofence around all major mall locations in the US and alerts shoppers when they are near a mall -- the only shopping app currently on the market to do so. At the mall, shoppers can play the new "Spin N' Win" game that lets them compete to win a daily cash prize ($50) as well as earn points towards a weekly prize. After playing the game, shoppers can easily view all the stores at the mall and the deals available for each of the stores.
"With the holidays coming up, we wanted to give our customers even more ways they can save money and stay on top of the many sales that take place this time of year," said Shirish Nadkarni, president and CEO of Zoomingo. "Our new Spin N' Win game will surely bring holiday cheer by rewarding shoppers for visiting their local malls."
A top ten app in its category in the Apple AppStore and a featured app on Google Play, Zoomingo -- a take on "Zoom in and go" -- provides a highly visual shopping experience that displays the best local and online deals for the top 100 retailers in the US across a wide range of categories including Women, Men, Kids, Home, Electronics, Sports & Fitness. The app is currently featured in Google Play as a Tablet 101 Must Have App and has been featured in the national print and broadcast media (including "Life Lift" the Oprah blog).
The version with Geofenced Mall notifications is initially available for Android only and is the first application to offer this exciting feature.
Zoomingo was co-founded by Krishnan Seshadrinathan and Shirish Nadkarni, who also co-founded Livemocha, the world's largest language learning website with more than 12 million users. Nadkarni also founded mobile email pioneer TeamOn, which was acquired by RIM in 2002. Nadkarni left Livemocha in 2011 and had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with his wife -- an avid shopper. The experience of going from one store to another in the mall to find interesting things on sale quickly became tedious. Often, his wife might find an item, but not buy it because she wasn't sure if there was something similar that was cheaper in another store. As a self-described "typical male shopper," Nadkarni found the process time-consuming and frustrating, and searched for an app to help. Price comparison apps weren't always reliable, and retailer mobile apps were geared to making online purchases. Nadkarni knew there had to be a better way -- and the idea of Zoomingo was born.
