Top Women Polo Players to Compete in Houston for the USPA U.S. Open Women's Polo Championship®

Powerhouse Northern Trust Returns to Defend Their Title With Three-Time Winner and Team Captain Maureen Brennan

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwired - November 04, 2015) - The United States Polo Association® (USPA) announced today that the 5th annual U.S. Open Women's Polo Championship® will take place at the Houston Polo Club starting November 10, culminating with the final match on Sunday, November 15. All tournament matches will be live streamed on Chukker TV.

American polo's top women's tournament was founded in 2011 and is the only national USPA title in women's polo. The championship tournament has been hosted at Houston Polo Club since inception and is home to the largest annual women's polo event in the country.

Competing for the USPA women's polo championship trophy this year are:

Maureen Brennan holds the record for winning three of the four championships that have been held. She will return to Houston to defend the title with teammates Julia Smith, member of Team USPA and Women's National Intercollegiate Champion, and Kristy Outhier, who won the open with Brennan in 2011 and 2013.

Other notable players taking the field in this year's championship tournament are Team USPA member Tiamo Hudspeth and two-time Girls National Interscholastic Champion and 2015 National Youth Tournament Series (NYTS) Champion, Marissa Wells.

The Houston Polo Club (HPC) was founded in 1928 to promote the sport, educate new and experienced players about the rules and their equine teammates, as well as serve the community as a cultural attraction. HPC has become the largest USPA member club in the nation.
