Tops In Texas Endorses YouthCanLead.com

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - February 10, 2011) - TOPSinTEXAS.com announced today that YouthCanLead.com has been chosen as its top Christian Youth Program for 2011. "We have had the privilege of getting to know Youth Can Lead and Pastors Jimn and Phyllis Kyles really well," said Tops In Texas and Tops In America Research & Poll Director Robert M. Brecht, Ph.D. "Also, Bishop Randy Clark, one of the overseers of Youth Can Lead, has a heart for helping the youth of Texas and America."

Youth Can Lead exists to inspire, equip, and empower young people, "change the world." According to a recent study by the Barna Institute of Los Angeles, CA, as many as 60% of Christian students who leave for college never return to the Church. "Something has to change," said Pastor Jimn Kyles. "We see a genuine hunger in the eyes and hearts of America's youth. We believe the answer is equipping them -- not to get along with the culture of today -- but to guide it in a more positive direction. This requires leadership... and, at Youth Can Lead, we believe they're never too young to lead that movement."

The Youth Can Lead website expounds on that belief, "Nations are filled with hurting people. Communities are constantly faced with a lack of leadership. With all these needs and hurts comes opportunity... the chance for leaders to step up and initiate campaigns that will bring healing to countries, regions, communities, and families."

Fr. Kevin Scherer, the executive director for both Orthodox Youth Outreach (OYO) and Orthodox Christian Fellowship, said on OCF.NET, "It doesn't profit the Church or our students to over-simplify the challenges of our modern context. We must resist the black-and-white categories and easy answers that are so typical for us. It's a context of social support and not social control that helps our students in their life journey toward Truth, namely Jesus Christ."

Youth Can Lead will hold a state-wide meeting for youth on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 6PM at the new Triumph Church campus on West Airport at Murphy Road in Stafford, Texas. The event is free with live bands, free food and no charge for entry. It is open to all youth and youth pastors who want to join the non-denominational Youth Can Lead movement.
