Torch Completes Resample Program on Red Bird Property

SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 7, 2005) - Further to Torch's June 28, 2005 News Release, Torch River Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:TCR) ("Torch") is pleased to announce that it has now completed a detailed resample program of the existing 133 drill hole cores located on the Red Bird Property. To date, over 1,400 samples have been obtained and shipped to a qualified assay laboratory for reanalysis for a "all element" assay on the samples. The "all element" assay of the samples are to confirm the molybdenum content as well as to identify any other mineral samples present in the drill hole cores.

At this time, Torch has historical resource reserve estimates for the Red Bird Property, which were completed prior to the current standards for disclosure of resource reserve estimates and therefore are not in accordance NI43-101 standards as set-out by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum and should not be relied upon. The completed work program was necessary to verify the classification of the resource reserve from the historical estimates which come from an appraisal of the Red Bird Property done by D.J.M. Farnsworth in 1981 for Craigmont Mines Limited.

As such, Torch has commissioned Giroux Consulting Ltd. to correlate the results of the assay of the samples and to calculate a NI43-101 compliant defined resource reserve for the Red Bird Property. The results of the "all element" assay on the samples, as well as the NI43-101 compliant defined resource reserve will be released upon its completion.

Torch is a company listed and trading on the TSX Venture Exchange, symbol: TCR.
