Tornados Force Great Lakes Region Power Plants Offline, an Industrial Info News Alert

SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwire - June 10, 2010) -  Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- Tornados from different weather events have ripped through the Great Lakes Region during the past few days causing havoc and shutting down power plants. On June 6, the Fermi Nuclear Station, which is in Newport, Michigan, and is owned by Detroit Edison Company (NYSE:DTE) (Detroit, Michigan), went offline due to an off-site power loss that was caused by tornados. On June 5, three separate tornados ripped through the Powerton Power Station that is owned by Edison International (NYSE:EIX) (Rosemead, California), near Pekin, Illinois, creating major infrastructure damage and taking 1,786 megawatts of power generation capacity offline.
