Toro Selects Infoblox Network Identity Appliances

SUNNYVALE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 24, 2005 -- Infoblox Inc., a developer of network identity infrastructure (NII) systems, today announced that The Toro Company (NYSE: TTC), a leading provider of outdoor maintenance and beautification products for home, recreation and commercial landscapes around the world, has selected and deployed Infoblox network identity appliances to improve the reliability and reduce the management complexity of its network identity infrastructure.

Toro is a global company with operations across the United States, Europe and the Pacific Rim. With over 5,000 employees, Toro's network identity infrastructure, which delivers domain name resolution and IP address assignment services, is essential to maintaining the availability and performance of its critical IP-based applications.

Toro previously relied on open-source software deployed on Novell NDS to provide these domain name system (DNS) and dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) based services, but found that significant time was required to manage the servers and software. In addition, Toro IT representatives were concerned about overall solution reliability and the potential security vulnerabilities inherent in using a general purpose operating system to host critical network services.

Toro selected Infoblox appliances with the DNSone™ module, which provided integrated DNS and DHCP services, because the appliance form factor and built-in reliability features dramatically simplify deployment, management and maintenance of the system and improve uptime.

Toro's Infoblox installation includes two Infoblox-1000 appliances running in a high-availability (HA) pair at the company's Bloomington, Minn., headquarters to ensure that no single failure can cause a system outage. In addition to high availability (HA), the Infoblox appliances provide inherent security thanks to the hardened Infoblox NIOS™ network identity operating system. System administration and management are also enhanced by the product's powerful, web-based graphical user interface (GUI).

Infoblox appliances are designed to provide the foundation for next-generation network identity services in a secure and easy-to-manage form factor. The hardened appliance design and intuitive GUI enable the offloading of DNS and DHCP services from general-purpose servers that typically handle multiple functions and require significant administration overhead. Instead, these services can be easily managed by a purpose-built, HA appliance that is inherently secure, reliable and scalable, freeing network administration resources and providing increased security for these critical network identity services.
