Toronto CPA Student Captures Canadian Gold Medal

20 Ontario Students Earn Honours in Canada-Wide CPA Exam

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov. 29, 2013) - Nicholas Tsai of Toronto captured the Canadian and Ontario Gold Medals as the top writer of the Uniform Evaluation (UFE) in the country. A total of 20 Ontario CPA students placed on the prestigious 54-member National Honour Roll, making 2013 a very good year for this province.

Overall, 1,201 Ontario CPA students and a total of 3,032 across the country have successfully passed the UFE, one of the world's most challenging professional entry examinations.

The UFE, written in September, is a national three-day evaluation that assesses competencies necessary for Chartered Professional Accountants including essential knowledge, professional judgment, ethics and the ability to communicate. The UFE is an important component of the CPA qualification program, which includes prescribed education, practical experience and examination requirements. Only those who complete this entire program successfully are entitled to use the internationally recognized designation of Chartered Professional Accountant, a profession known for superior financial expertise, strategic thinking, business insight and leadership.

Nicholas Tsai articles with EY in Toronto and has a Master of Accounting degree from the University of Waterloo. He notes: "I was always interested in accounting and the CPA is the premium designation today, providing both knowledge and technical competency. You need drive and determination to achieve the CPA. It takes dedication to get through the program."
