Man To Man Prostate Cancer Support Group

Toronto Hosting National Prostate Cancer Conference, Aug 7-9, 2005

Attention: City Editor, Health/Medical Editor, Lifestyle Editor, Media Editor, News Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 1, 2005) - The second annual national conference of the Canadian Prostate Cancer Network will be held at Toronto's Delta Chelsea Hotel August 7 to 9, 2005. The media is invited to attend.

Attendees are representatives of prostate cancer support groups from across Canada, and prostate cancer survivors themselves. This year's event is hosted by Man to Man Toronto.

Dr. Gerald Chodak, eminent Chicago urologist, educator and patient rights activist will address the conference Sunday night.

Speakers include brachytherapy specialists Dr. Juanita Crook from Princess Margaret Hospital and Dr. Gerard Morton from the Toronto-Sunnybrook Regional Cancer Centre. Other speakers include laparoscopic surgeon Dr. Antonio Finelli (PMH) and Dr. Allan Toguri, Chief of Urology at Scarborough General Hospital.

HIFU, a new non-invasive treatment for prostate cancer employing high-intensity focused ultrasound will be addressed Monday by Dr. Edward Woods with representatives from HIFU in Vancouver attending.

Monday afternoon, Dr. Morton will discuss intensity modulated radiation therapy.
