Toronto Hydro-Electric System Receives Decision on Rate Changes

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 15, 2008) - Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited ("Toronto Hydro"), a subsidiary of Toronto Hydro Corporation, announced that it has received a decision today from its regulator, the Ontario Energy Board ("OEB") on its application to adjust electricity distribution rates.

The application sought approval to adjust electricity distribution rates to provide funding for the upgrading of the electrical distribution system in Toronto and to recruit employees to replace workers who will be retiring over the next several years.

Toronto Hydro must now determine the effects of the Decision on rates and provide overall customer rate impacts to the OEB for final approval. Approved rate changes are expected to take effect on July 1st, 2008.

Distribution rates cover the costs associated with delivering electricity from transformer stations to homes and businesses in Toronto. These include the costs of planning, installing and maintaining overhead and underground distribution lines, poles, cable chambers, meters, stations and transformers. Distribution rates form part of the "Delivery" line of the Toronto Hydro bills.
