Toronto Welcomes Leading Calgary-Based Energy Companies to Share Calgary's "Energy" With Toronto's Recruiting Industry

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 5, 2012) - Today, Calgary Economic Development along with Calgary-based Jacobs Industrial Services Ltd., ATCO Structures and Logistics, and ATCO I-Tek will be speaking to Toronto's recruiting industry about growing employment demands in Calgary's energy sector.

With Calgary expected to lead Canada's economic recovery into 2014, there's an opportunity in Calgary to make a living and make a life and Calgary businesses are laying out the welcome mat.

An innovative initiative led by Calgary Economic Development, Calgary. Be Part of the Energy, encourages people and businesses from outside of Calgary to consider Calgary as a prime relocation site.

"The attractiveness of these opportunities continues as Ontario's unemployment rate rises, while Calgary experiences one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country - and their need for talent increases," say Jeanette Sutherland, Manager, Workforce and Productivity for Calgary Economic Development. "We're thrilled to host Toronto's recruiters to share opportunities that will grow their business and provide new employment options for their clients."

Senior human resources professionals will discuss growing recruitment needs in Calgary as the robust landscape of energy projects evolve. In turn, Toronto recruiters will leave with their complete "Calgary tool kit" and an increased understanding for employment options for their engineering, certified trades and geotechnical candidates.

It's well known that Calgary's energy sector drives the economy (1 out of every 13 jobs in Alberta is directly related to energy) and plays host to 136 head offices - a growth of 56 per cent over the past 10 years. Calgary has been ranked the fifth most livable city on this world (for 3 years running) and offers the highest wages and salaries per employee in Canada (for the past 11 years).

This event is being held in conjunction with the Global Energy Career Expo, November 6-7, 2012 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Over 25 energy companies are looking to recruit new graduates and experienced energy professionals - registration is FREE online or $30 at the door. For more information, please visit
