The Torrance Marriott South Bay Celebrates 25 Years of Service and Community in the Heart of the South Bay

TORRANCE, CA--(Marketwire - January 20, 2010) - It's a Silver Anniversary celebration for the first and largest hotel in the city of Torrance. Torrance Marriott South Bay will celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of its Grand Opening on Thursday, February 25, 2010 with expected special guests Torrance Mayor, Frank Scotto, Marriott AVP, Doug Watson, Diamond Rock Asset Manager, Jeff Bond, City Council Members, and local area General Managers. Featuring live music from local artists, the invitation only VIP reception will be held in the lavishly renovated Terrace Ballroom from 5pm to 7pm.

Located adjacent to the fifth largest mall in the United States, the Torrance Marriott South Bay has been recognized by the readers of the Daily Breeze as the "Best Hotel in the South Bay" for the last two consecutive years.

"We are extremely proud to be celebrating twenty-five years of service to our guests, our friends and family in the city of Torrance. It has been their unwavering support that has strengthened our partnerships within the community. We are particularly proud of our Spirit to Serve initiatives including our green efforts, and continue to expand on our commitment to excellence and personalized service that has become our unrivaled signature," says Pam Ryan, General Manager.

The event marks an important milestone for the community centered property where, vital to the hotel's long standing success, are philanthropic partnerships, including Habitat for Humanity, Pediatric Therapy Network, and Coastal Beach Clean Ups. Furthermore, the hotel has hosted four blood drives per year in partnership with American Red Cross and is recognized by the Torrance Chamber of Commerce for its outstanding work with the local Adopt a School and Leadership Torrance Program.

"Our mission statement, 'to inspire our associates to go the extra mile for our guests, one another and our community,' is the foundation that brings us together," says Ryan, who has a twenty-one year relationship with the Marriott Brand including three years as general manager of the Torrance Marriott South Bay and the current chairman for Marriott's LA Business Council.

In 2005, the hotel was acquired by Diamond Rock Hospitality Company and renovations worth over $10 million have since commenced including the conversion of the opulent Terrace Ballroom, Starbucks Marketplace, an outdoor Zen Garden and the Rain Wine Bar, the focal point of the new lobby reinvention experience. Less than three miles from the beach, the hotel has earned the EPA's Energy Star Certification in support of green efforts for several years, and was recently certified with the Clean Bay Restaurant Certification.

Boasting the largest ballroom and the only hotel with an indoor/outdoor pool in the South Bay, Torrance Marriott South Bay will continue to define "where style and comfort meet" for years to come.
