Torstar Purchases Huntsville Forester

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 4, 2005) - Torstar Corporation (TSX:TS.NV.B) today announced its wholly-owned subsidiary, Metroland Printing, Publishing & Distributing Ltd., has completed its purchase of the Huntsville Forester and a related paper in Burk's Falls, the Almaguin Forester.

As part of this transaction Metroland also acquired the remaining ownership interest in the Muskoka Advance and the Weekender newspapers published in Bracebridge, Gravenhurst and Huntsville.

This transaction is a continuation of Metroland's strategy of expanding its community newspaper business.
