Total Performance and RCR Series 3 Camaro Shine in the First Episode of Bullrun on SPEED

WICHITA, KS--(Marketwire - February 25, 2009) - The 2009 Bullrun challenge is underway on SPEED and Total Performance Inc. (TPI) finished second in the first time trial behind the wheel of a 1969 RCR Series 3 Camaro. The Bullrun series, which premiered Thursday, Feb. 19, features TPI president Brook Phillips and Wade Griswald as "Team Camaro" in the grueling 3,000 mile, 12-car competition. Brook and his team build the RCR Series 3 Camaro at TPI's custom shop in Wichita, Kan.

Following introductions by Bullrun host Bill Goldberg, teams raced from Los Angeles to the first checkpoint in Death Valley, before finishing at Shelby Automobiles world headquarters in Las Vegas. Adding to the intensity of the contest, cell phones and GPS units were restricted. "Team Camaro" completed the first time trial just minutes behind first place finisher "Team Solstice."

"We found a shortcut that shaved about 25 miles off the general route," explained Phillips. "But 'Team Solstice' is from Las Vegas and knew about a new loop that dropped them off right at the finish. We had a blast and were excited to finish strong on the first day."

Teams that finished at the bottom of the pack took part in an explosive elimination challenge that claimed "Team Porsche" as the first castaway. Brook, Wade and the RCR Series 3 Camaro will star again in episode 2 of Bullrun tomorrow at 10 p.m. EST on SPEED. For links to behind the scenes videos of "Team Camaro's" Bullrun journey, visit

The RCR Series 3 Camaro is a collaboration between TPI and Richard Childress Racing to build the ultimate tribute car to racing legend, Dale Earnhardt. Only 50 of the limited edition muscle cars will be built. Go to for more information on the RCR Series 3 Camaro.
