Totowa Dentists Offer Special Spring Cleaning Event for Patients

TOTOWA, NJ--(Marketwired - April 28, 2016) - Don't stop your spring cleaning by decluttering your closets and attic. Your local Totowa dentist wants you to rummage through your dental drawer and part with old toothbrushes.

Dr. Lawrence Kaplan, who operates Dental 2000, is offering a special spring cleaning deal and giving away a free teeth-whitening treatment to one lucky individual. For community members who bring in their old, frayed manual toothbrushes, Dr. Kaplan will replace the toothbrush and provide a $10 voucher for an upcoming dental cleaning. The dental practice also will provide a $25 savings on cleanings for those patients who take a selfie and tag #dental2000nj on Facebook. Each participant will be entered into a drawing to win a free teeth-whitening treatment.

"This is an event that we use to help educate our community about the importance of retiring their old toothbrushes," Dr. Kaplan said. "It's hard to keep your teeth clean when you don't have the right tools or you're using an old, worn-out toothbrush."

Studies show that Americans use the same toothbrush for an average of 10 months and sometimes for years. That's more than twice as long as what the American Dental Association recommends. The national organization advises changing toothbrushes every three to four months, or sooner if the toothbrush begins to fray.

An old toothbrush is less effective at cleaning the teeth and can even collect bacteria. Dr. Kaplan and his team at Dental 2000 recommend that patients never share a toothbrush and store their toothbrush in an open place, where it can properly dry.

Dental 2000's spring cleaning program ends on May 31 and is available to all patients and community members. "Our office is always looking for fun, creative ways to engage our patients and community members and remind them the importance of their oral health," Dr. Kaplan said. "We encourage everyone in the area to look through their dental drawers or medicine cabinets and part with their old toothbrushes."

Dental 2000 is a comprehensive dental office that includes an array of general dentists, an oral surgeon, periodontist, board certified orthodontist and hygienists. The staff is skilled in general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, TMJ treatment, Invisalign, gum disease treatment and root canal therapy.

The staff often works to provide full-mouth reconstructions and dental implants to restore failing or missing teeth. Dental implants, which are made from titanium, join with the jawbone over time and secure permanent restorations like crowns or dentures. Dental 2000 offers the revolutionary treatment known as All-on-4 dental implants to replace entire arches of missing teeth. All-on-4 dental implants have become an alternative for patients who cannot stand their removable dentures or those who need more support to eat the foods they love. Dental implants are the closest thing to natural teeth available in dentistry and help patients chew better and look younger.

Along with restoring and replacing teeth, Dr. Kaplan is passionate about helping patients overcome their dental fear. With millions of dental phobes across the country, Dr. Kaplan offers sedation dentistry to ease patient fear. His pledge to patients for the past 34 years has been a nothing short of a pain-free experience or they do not pay for the visit to which he prides himself on upholding.

Dr. Kaplan earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Brooklyn College in 1966 and graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 1970. He founded Dental 2000 in 1982 and has worked to establish a full-service practice to give patients the treatments they need under one roof. Combining his dental skills and health and wellness education, Dr. Kaplan also is an inspirational health speaker. His lectures were featured in the book "Diets Don't Work" written by New York Times best-selling author Dr. Bob Schwartz.

Dr. Kaplan is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Facial Esthetics, American Dental Association, American Academy of Implant Dentistry and Passaic County Dental Society. He also holds certificates in Zoom Teeth Whitening, conscious sedation and Invisalign.

Dr. Kaplan was recognized as one of New Jersey's Top Docs in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, and he has earned the certificate of Special Congressional Recognition.
