Tough Mudder Announces Global Partnership With Eventbrite; Bringing "Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet" to the Masses

Largest Self-Service Ticketing and Registration Platform Joins Forces With the Largest Obstacle Event Company to Bring Mud to Participants Around the World

BROOKLYN, NY--(Marketwired - Aug 15, 2013) - Today, Tough Mudder announced a global partnership with leading self-service ticketing and registration platform, Eventbrite. As Tough Mudder rolls out more than 70 events in 10 countries over the next year, the registration pros at Eventbrite will help bring mud, obstacles and life-changing experiences to participants worldwide in 2014.

The announcement comes at a time of explosive growth for both companies. Tough Mudder, a three-year-old company, currently hosts endurance challenges in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany and Australia, and will continue to expand globally in the coming year. Since its founding in 2006, Eventbrite's global platform has grown to process over 120 million tickets and registrations in 179 countries, representing more than $1.5 billion in gross ticket sales. The Eventbrite platform hosts a range of events from intimate workshops and classes, to concerts, festivals, conferences, and global endurance events like Tough Mudder.

"Eventbrite has a track record revolutionizing registration platforms for some of the world's biggest events. This partnership will bring their cutting-edge technology to Mudders around the world, allowing our participants to build their teams and share social content easier than ever before," said Melissa Esmundo, VP of Marketing at Tough Mudder.

Some of the new Eventbrite features that will delight Mudders include:

  • Personalized, easily shareable team pages that make it simple for captains to recruit and manage their team
  • An optimized on-site packet pickup experience to dramatically speed up the event day check-in process
  • Interactive and customizable fundraising tools to assist participants in raising money for Wounded Warrior Project and Tough Mudder's international charity partners
  • Transfer capabilities enabling participants to move their registration to a different date, a new event or onto a team
  • On-the-go access and registration to all Tough Mudder events and order information from the Eventbrite mobile app

"The Tough Mudder leadership team has built a massive business in a few short years, and share a similar passion with Eventbrite for inspiring people to connect through live experiences," said Kevin Hartz, CEO of Eventbrite. "We are thrilled that the work we have done around registration and scalability, combined with our strong feature set and global footprint makes Eventbrite the platform of choice for this incredible experience."

Designed by British Special Forces, Tough Mudder courses test participants' strength, grit, stamina and camaraderie with military-style obstacles such as "Funky Monkey," greased-up incline and decline monkey bars; "Fire Walker," a run through 4-foot-high flames; and "Electroshock Therapy," a gauntlet of 10,000-volt-charged dangling wires participants must barrel through to get to the finish line.
