Tough Mudder Returns to Kentucky Speedway, June 11 and 12

SPARTA, KY--(Marketwired - May 11, 2016) - Approximately 6,000 participants will descend upon Kentucky Speedway over two days to take part in Tough Mudder Kentucky Presented by Merrell on Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12. The 10+ mile course goes up steep hills and trails one moment and down into deep mud pits the next and features new obstacles for 2016.

The 20+ obstacles at the Kentucky Speedway course will include never-before-seen challenges along with favorites that will push participants to work as a team.

"The obstacle innovations we've made for 2016 will encourage participants to work together more than ever before, while still providing the personal challenge people have come to expect from Tough Mudder," said Hilary May of Tough Mudder. "We're thrilled to provide a fresh experience for returning Mudders and new reasons for first-timers to join us."

Tough Mudder events have wide appeal -- participants (known as "Mudders") range from veterans to business executives to 81-year-old grandparents. More than 90% of Mudders sign up as part of a team. And for many Mudders, Tough Mudder is more than just a weekend event -- it's a lifestyle. More than 5,000 Mudders have even had the Tough Mudder logo permanently tattooed on their bodies.

The Tough Mudder weekend also will feature a Fruit Shoot Mini Mudder course, a one-mile kid-friendly challenge designed for ages 7-12. The Mini Mudder course will add three new obstacles for this year, similar to the ones their parents will tackle on the Tough Mudder course. Mini Mudder participants also get Fruit Shoot drinks and temporary tattoos.

Registration for Tough Mudder Kentucky is now open and spectator tickets are also available. For those interested in finding other ways to get involved -- and getting a discount on future registration -- Tough Mudder is currently looking for volunteers to be a part of the action.
