Financial assistance will allow Festival Musique du Bout du Monde (FMBM) to put together and promote outside Quebec a wide range of shows

GASPÉ, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 5, 2016) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED) and Department of Canadian Heritage

Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development (CED), and of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, the Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Minister of National Revenue and MP for Gaspésie-Les-Îles-de-la-Madeleine, announced that the Festival Musique du Bout du Monde (FMBM) was awarded $169,500 in financial support.

Known for its varied programming, FMBM is seen as an itinerary of discoveries. Furthermore, the festival generates considerable impacts that benefit the region's shops, restaurants and hotels. This exciting event also helps create jobs and establish conditions favourable for the middle class and the growth of the Canadian economy.

The assistance allocated by CED to FMBM amounts to $136,500 for the 2016 and 2017 editions. Awarded in the form of a non-repayable contribution under the Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP), that amount will be used to publicize FMBM's activities in Canada and abroad.

For its part, Canadian Heritage is awarding $33,000 to FMBM, through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund. This funding will enable the Festival to put on a multitude of shows as well as awareness-building activities highlighting world music.
