Tourism Victoria Puts City on the Map, Earning Top Honours as the BCAMA's 2014 Marketer of the Year

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Sept. 9, 2014) - The BC Chapter of the American Marketing Association (BCAMA) has named Tourism Victoria as BC's 2014 Marketer of the Year. Tourism Victoria is being recognized, in light of stiff competition from top destinations across the country, for putting the city on the map as a world-class destination for tourists and business professionals alike. The Marketer of the Year is the BCAMA's prestigious annual award program that recognizes the most outstanding integrated marketing strategy in the province of BC.

Tourism Victoria was chosen as the 44th Marketer of the Year for its tenacious three-pronged campaign that transformed the brand from relative obscurity to a major player on the international scene. Employing a focused market strategy, Tourism Victoria made waves in the industry both locally and globally, impacting the greater Victoria economy, driving hotel occupancy and increasing average nightly hotel revenue.

"We are extremely excited to recognize Tourism Victoria as our 2014 Marketer of the Year. Their creative yet strategic approach to sustainable tourism development allowed them to compete with some heavy-hitting markets across the country," says Steve Kim, BCAMA Past President and Chair of the Marketer of the Year Judging Committee. "The judging committee was greatly impressed by their tenacity and groundbreaking results."

"We are so incredibly honoured to be recognized with this award," says Trina Mousseau, Chief Marketing Officer at Tourism Victoria. "We would like to sincerely thank the BCAMA for considering and awarding the work that we do. Our marketing efforts are so much more than just the campaigns we do. By working together -- from our valued members to our teams on the road - we strive to inspire travel influencers to visit our beautiful destination."

The BCAMA will present the award to Tourism Victoria at the 44th annual Marketer of the Year gala, which will be held at the Westin Bayshore Hotel on Wednesday, November 12, 2014. For event details or to purchase tickets, visit www.bcama.com.
