Township of Langley Selects DotNetNuke for Compelling New Site

Township Provides Web-Based Services and Communicates With Citizens via Easy to Deploy, Easy to Update, User-Friendly Site Built on DNN Professional Edition

SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 2, 2012) - DotNetNuke Corp. today announced that the Township of Langley, British Columbia, has selected the DotNetNuke Web Content Management System Professional Edition to rebuild and power the Township's online presence. By deploying the DotNetNuke Professional Edition, the Township's IT department was able to deliver an easy-to-navigate, service-oriented web presence for the Township's citizens, and will now be able to easily upgrade to meet the changing needs of the community.

The new site offers greater usability, an updated design and a host of online services -- all things that were lacking in the old site. The redesign resulted in the elimination of 80 percent of older content, most of which was outdated or redundant. Keeping the site fresh will be simpler for the Township's staff. With the help of the DNN professional support team and best practices and ideas from the DNN community, the Township was able to deliver a highly functional, modern site that meets its needs now and will continue to do so in the future.

"When we run into a common issue, it's easy to find answers through the DotNetNuke support community," said Shane Barnaby, Web technician for the Township of Langley IT Department. "We also get a lot of help as Professional Edition subscribers. If someone is sitting on the fence about getting the DNN Professional or Enterprise editions, the extra support should convince them."

The site now uses the DotNetNuke Document Library, which enables documents to be easily saved and searched within departments. The DotNetNuke architecture enhances the service-oriented nature of the site with fast performance to deliver a better user experience. Additionally, the site uses the DotNetNuke Calendar module by Coding Staff, a DNN partner, which is integrated with Microsoft Exchange Server for easy calendar additions. These modules enable the Township of Langley IT department to easily integrate files, calendar additions and news onto the website.

"One benefit of the DNN platform is how fast it loads and the overall performance of the site, which runs on a single server," said Barnaby. "There are a lot of moving parts behind the CMS platform, but DNN has done a great job with caching and provides best practices for optimizing performance through its support network. It's a very peppy framework."
