Tracy Park Gallery to Host City Hearts Fundraiser With "Where Peace Lives" Author, Debbie Robins on May 24

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 30, 2007 -- Tracy Park Gallery will host a fundraiser and book signing with Debbie Robins, author of "Where Peace Lives" (Cambridge House Press, May 1, 2007; ISBN: 0-9787213-7-3; Price: $19.95 hardcover), to benefit City Hearts: Kids Say "Yes" to the Arts, a non-profit, arts-based program of prevention and critical intervention providing the most at-risk kids in the poorest neighborhoods with vital, quality arts education that enhances literacy, social and academic skills while building a sense of community (

The event will take place on Thurs., May 24, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Tracy Park Gallery, 1431 Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica, Calif., which features primarily emerging artists. A silent auction of two limited-edition framed copies of illustrations from "Where Peace Lives," which have been nominated for a Student Academy Award, will be available for bidding with all proceeds benefiting City Hearts. A portion of proceeds from the sale of the work of Stewart Bruce, whose photo illustrations have been exhibited and sold worldwide, will also benefit City Hearts.

"Where Peace Lives," which has been endorsed by such luminaries as Deepak Chopra, Gore Vidal, Arianna Huffington, Penny Marshall, Jane Seymour, bestselling author Debbie Ford and others, is a book of timeless wisdom for people of all ages. Library Journal has described the book as "delightful" and stated that it will "attract a wide audience." Robins, who is also a movie/TV producer and executive/corporate coach, is donating a portion of proceeds from the sale of the book to City Hearts, which supports the key messages that the non-profit organization tries to impart on the students who attend their afternoon arts programs.

Founded in 1984 as a program of prevention by criminal defense attorneys Sherry and Bob Jason, City Hearts now reaches over 2,000 at-greatest-risk children each year, ages five to 18, through unique and inspiring, free after-school programs in core arts disciplines. City Hearts is committed to using the arts to intervene in a loving, supportive and nurturing way to break the cycle of poverty, neglect, abuse and violence that destroys the lives of so many of our community's children who face everyday challenges of gangs, drugs and crime. The programs are designed to show these most disadvantaged children an alternate path of social involvement and life-affirming success.

Some of the teachers from City Hearts will be at The Tracy Park Gallery fundraiser to greet people and help with the balloon raffle, which features luxury prizes such as jewelry from Julieri and Shankari, travel bags from Stephanie Johnson, spa packages from Burke Williams, Spa-Addicts and Chocolate Sun and other specialty items. Tickets are $35.00 per person and valet parking is complimentary. Hors d'oeuvres will be provided by local vegan eatery, Real Food Daily. Beverages will be provided by Malibu Family Wines, Liquid Salvation water and Hpnotiq liqueur. To order tickets call 310-203-7841.
