Trade Winds Continues Reporting High Grade Gold at Detour Lake, Ontario

TIMMINS, ON -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 12, 2006 -- Trade Winds Ventures Inc. (TSX-V: TWD) is pleased to report that further high grade gold values have been obtained from its 2006 winter diamond drilling program. The program was designed to test the near surface potential of the M Zone at Detour Lake, Ontario.

Results released today are from four holes drilled on Section 15940E, located 800 metres to the west of last week's April 5, 2006 release, which returned high grade gold mineralization from Section 16740E.

Hole # Grams/tonne Metres Ounces/ton Feet

TWDDH-128 12.91 3.50 0.38 11.48

TWDDH-133 23.88 2.00 0.70 6.56
Visible gold was noted in both intercepts and has been observed in over 85% of the reported drill holes intersecting the M Zone structural corridor, which now tested over a 4 kilometre strike length, and which plunges gently to the west. Over 71% of all diamond drill holes along the M Zone have returned a value of at least 10 grams/tonne gold over a minimum 1.0 metre width.

The high-grade intercept from hole TWDDH-128 of 12.91 grams/tonne gold over the 3.50 metre core length occurs in the main M Zone contact. Just 50 metres from surface, hole TWDDH-133 returned 23.88 grams/tonne gold over a 2.00 metre core length from a hanging wall quartz zone, approximately 70 metres above the main M Zone contact. At least six east-west trending zones of alteration and gold mineralization in close proximity to the M Zone mafic/ultramafic contact have been identified from the 2006 winter drilling program.

Details of the assay results received for Section 15940E from the recently completed, near-surface winter M Zone drilling program are as follows:

HOLE NAME FROM TO CORE TRUE COMPOSITE Comments

The winter 2006 diamond drilling of the M Zone on the Block A option was completed by the end of March, with a total of 13,510 metres in 59 holes. Core logging, splitting and assaying will continue for the next several weeks.

Trade Winds has completed sufficient exploration expenditures to earn its 50% interest from Pelangio Mines Inc. (TSX: PLG) in Block A, one of its three optioned Detour Lake Properties situated approximately 180 kilometres northeast of Timmins, Ontario, and located in the Abitibi Greenstone Belt, Canada's most prolific gold producing belt.

Mr. Ian Lambert, Trade Winds' CEO, stated: "These high grade gold values are consistent with what we have been expecting, demonstrating the consistency of the M Zone structural corridor over an extensive strike length. We have now reported on nine of the 59 holes completed during this 2006 winter drilling program along the M Zone structure on Block A, from which assays will be received on a continuing basis over the next several weeks. Visible gold is common in almost all our drill holes reported to date, in both the hanging wall and footwall quartz zones and along the main contact."

Mr. Lambert commented: "Now that the winter break-up is almost over, Trade Winds plans to commence drill testing the M Zone on its Gowest claims, directly adjacent to the western boundary of Block A. Recent interpretation indicates the plunge of the M Zone gold zones may be levelling off the further west we drill. If so, the previously reported high-grade gold results from the Gowest Block may represent the lower M Zone and more gold zones may be anticipated to occur approximately 150 to 250 metres above what we have already discovered as far west as Section 12800E."

Mr. Lorne Warner, P. Geo., is the qualified person for the Trade Winds Detour Lake projects. Trade Winds, as operator of the projects, has implemented a quality control program to ensure best practices in the sampling and analysis of the drill core. All fire assay results are being provided by ALS Chemex, North Vancouver, BC, an ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
