Trade Winds Discovers Upper M Zone Mineralization 1.18 Km West of Previous Drilling on 100% Owned Gowest Property at Detour Lake

TIMMINS, ON -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 11, 2006 -- Trade Winds Ventures Inc. (TSX-V: TWD) is pleased to report assay results from the Gowest diamond drilling program on Section 12820E. The Gowest drilling program is focused on testing the western extension and continuity of the M Zone Structural Corridor. The M Zone Structural Corridor is a gold bearing structure that begins near surface at the eastern end of the jointly owned Block A at Detour Lake, Ontario, immediately adjacent to the 100% owned Gowest property, and plunges gently westward along strike for over four kilometres onto the Gowest property. Two significant mineralized zones occur along a komatiite structure, the Upper and Lower M Zone gold zones. The near surface and other portions of the M Zone Structural Corridor drilled to date are the subject of a forthcoming NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate.

Three exploratory diamond drill holes, TWGW-002/003/004 located on Section 12820E tested for Upper M Zone mineralization over a 300-metre height. Hole TWGW-004, located between the other two-drill holes intercepted significant alteration, sulphide concentrations and visible gold near the footwall contact of the M Zone komatiite. Assay results for hole TWGW-004 returned 3.89 grams/tonne gold over 4.0 metres, including 14.25 grams/tonne gold over 1.0 metre, with clots of visible gold observed within the greenstone (komatiite), yet no quartz veins were present within this interval. The location and style of the mineralization is typical of the Upper M Zone mineralization, where the previous most westerly Upper M Zone intercept occurs on Section 14000E, grading 23.00 grams/tonne over 2.0 metres, over 1.18 kilometres to the east of this new strike extension.

The Lower M Zone gold zone is situated approximately 400 metres down-dip from the Upper M Zone gold zone along the hanging wall contact of the same komatiitic unit. Previous drilling by Trade Winds located the lower zone at Section 12820E, being over 100 metres in height with visible gold observed in all holes. The deepest hole, previously reported TWDDH-107H, returned 5.09 grams/tonne gold over 9.9 metres. Trade Winds has now tested the M Zone approximately 100 metres down-dip of TWDDH-107H by wedging down to TWDDH-107N. Visual estimates and assay results confirmed the mineralization continues to depth as a broad zone of 1.13 grams/tonne gold over 12.27 metres.

Visible gold was noted in a quartz zone in TWDDH-107N which returned 41.40 grams/tonne gold over 0.5 metres and correlates well with a quartz zone located 60 metres up-dip in TWDDH-107H which contained a previously reported 22.50 grams/tonne gold over 0.75 metres.

To date on Section 12820E, the M Zone has been tested by ten diamond drill holes totaling 10,702 metres, intersecting the M Zone over a 700 metre height (from approximately 650 metres to 1,350 metres depth from surface). Both the Upper and Lower M Zone gold zones have been located on this Section, representing over 4.0 kilometres of known gold mineralization occurring along the M Zone Structural Corridor.

Significant gold fire-assay results from holes TWGW-002 to TWGW-004 and wedge hole TWDDH-107N drilled on Section 12820E are listed in Table 1.
