Trading Eights Web Series Starring G4's Alison Haislip Reaches Mid-Season Finale

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - May 24, 2010) -  The much anticipated mid-season finale of Trading Eights, a Noir Comedy Web series starring G4's Alison Haislip, airs Monday, May 24 on The finale titled "Take Five" follows the unlikely couple, Hildy (Alison Hailsip) and Grant (Sean Owens), as they attempt to capture and transfer another Zodiac assassin to the city, only this assassin has an agenda of his own. Can Hildy and Grant keep it together? Find out today in the mid-season finale that ends with a bang -- literally.

Writer Joe Hauler and director Bailey Kobe collaborated to create Trading Eights, this groundbreaking Web series they describe as a Noir Comedy -- "a blend of action comedy, a la Lethal Weapon or Die Hard, with a more 'real world' cynical bite to it," explains Hauler. The style and flavor of the series, Hauler continues, is also reflective of its title, Trading Eights, a reference to a type of call-and-response jazz improvisation. "The series is something of a throwback to romantic comedies of the '30s and '40s, so I tried to give the dialogue a sense of jazz rhythm -- peppy, up tempo, with a lot of back and forth between the 'instruments.'"

Trading Eights defies the neatly packaged one-genre box that is standard for the majority of shows made for Internet. "A lot of true serial Web series right now are veering towards one of two formats, sitcom or melodrama," says Kobe. However Trading Eights, he explains, offers the violence and suspense of a crime drama with a snappy comedic wit. "The characters in our series are living in a very dangerous world and being humorous is their way of coping with it."

With this unique blend of drama and comedy, a strong cast, witty dialogue, an exciting lineup of guest stars and plenty of plot twists and turns, Trading Eights is keeping the Web on its toes -- and the season is only half finished. Stay tuned, as episodes 6 - 10 will be released later this summer.
