                                      Quercus Publishing Plc
                                   ("Quercus" or the "Company")
                                          Trading Update
The Directors of Quercus are pleased to announce that trading in the first ten months of 2009 has
been strong and, as a consequence, the Company expects results for the year ending 31 December
2009 to be materially ahead of current market expectations.

Much of the Company's performance has been driven by particularly high sales of all three Stieg
Larsson novels (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl who Played with Fire and The Girl who
Kicked the Hornets' Nest), but the Directors are pleased to report that both of the Company's
divisions (Trade Publishing and Contract Publishing) are trading at or above plan.

Current indications are that this performance will continue through the Christmas trading period
and into 2010, but the Directors remain cautious and watchful of the health of High Street book
retailers and the level of consumer confidence.

The Company also reports that it has repaid in full the short term working capital facility
provided by Pentland Group Plc, one of the Company's shareholders.

The Directors are also pleased to report that Quercus has secured an increase in the banking
facilities available to the Company, under a new agreement with the Bank of Ireland.

The Directors of Quercus Publishing Plc are responsible for the contents of this announcement.
