Trading Update

                                                                                                26th January 2010

                                             Quercus Publishing Plc
                                          ("Quercus" or the "Company")
                                                 Trading Update
Further to the Company's trading update announced on 30 November 2009, the Directors of Quercus are pleased to
confirm that trading throughout the remainder of the Christmas period continued to be strong.

All three Stieg Larsson novels (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl who Played with Fire and The Girl who
Kicked the Hornets' Nest) continue to perform particularly well; and with the film of the first book to be
released in early 2010, the Directors believe that this performance should be sustained.

As importantly, trading across both of the Company's divisions (Trade Publishing and Contract Publishing)
performed at or above Directors' expectations in 2009. A strong autumn season from the non-fiction offering was
particularly pleasing with good sales from Patrick Bishop's The Battle of Britain, Duncan Hamilton's William Hill
Sports Book of the Year; Harold Larwood and Brian Moynahan's Jungle Soldier. In a year when the entire book
market declined, revenue from the wider publishing programme in the trade division experienced double digit
growth over the prior year.
