TRADOS Enables Motoman to Speed European Launch of New Product Line

Robotics Manufacturer Also Improves Branding and Simplifies Compliance With EU Rules

SUNNYVALE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 19, 2005 -- TRADOS Inc., the world leader in global information solutions, and Motoman Robotics, one of the world's largest manufacturers of industrial robots, today announced that TRADOS has helped Motoman accelerate the launch of its new generation of products in European markets. By giving Motoman control over its production chain for global information, TRADOS enabled Motoman to reduce costs, increase the consistency of its branding, improve communications across Europe, and simplify compliance with European Union regulations.

With operations in 21 countries and thousands of customers worldwide, Motoman is a fast-growing company with an increasing number of new product introductions. But like many global enterprises, its ability to create and publish the accompanying information needed -- from complex manuals to marketing collateral -- hindered its ability to quickly launch its latest robotics lines. Motoman also needed to localize its information into multiple languages as well as strictly follow regulations such as the mandatory CE Mark, a visible declaration on the manufacturer's equipment label that it complies with the requirements of all applicable EU directives in relation to user information and documentation.

To optimize its processes and clear an increasing backlog of projects, Motoman selected TRADOS to globalize and to increase consistency of communications for European markets. In less than a month, Motoman deployed its TRADOS solutions and immediately achieved impressive results. For one project critical to all its European markets, Motoman slashed its globalization time by two-thirds, enabling it to launch and capture revenue faster than otherwise possible.

"TRADOS enabled us to be more competitive in a fast-moving market," said Urban Härd, group manager of the technical communications at Motoman. "Not only does TRADOS get our products out much faster, but the software also helps ensure compliance with strict regulations and enables us to create high-quality, personalized experiences for customers. TRADOS made such a difference in our European operations that we are looking to extend our investments throughout our corporate family."

Motoman improved the clarity of its communications to customers and also internally among its 12 subsidiaries around the world. For the first time, authors, translators, project managers, and external vendors all use the same terms. TRADOS also enabled Motoman to provide greater support for its sales teams and created momentum for new business opportunities.

"Motoman's success is another example of TRADOS' ability to enable manufacturers to accelerate their business across borders," said Bill Seawick, chief marketing officer for TRADOS. "As multinational customers grow increasingly important, more manufacturers are turning to TRADOS to unlock global markets."
