Training Scholarships for Energy Efficiency & Renewables

Training Dollars Available to Coloradoans for Industry-Leading Certification Programs

BOULDER, CO--(Marketwire - October 21, 2010) -  As part of a bold initiative to develop a skilled workforce ready to deliver on energy-saving incentive programs for homeowners, the Colorado State Energy Sector Partnership is offering training scholarships to qualified Coloradoans. Workers who are in need of updated skills in energy efficiency or renewable energy disciplines may qualify to receive a scholarship for training in these high-demand fields.

As states across the country continue to come up with incentives for financing residential retrofits and energy upgrades for homes, more contractors will be needed to install solar panels, seal-up drafty homes, and conduct home energy audits in accordance with nationally-recognized standards. The training scholarships will offer scholarships for certification from entities such as the North American Board of Energy Practitioners (NABCEP), the Building Performance Institute (BPI), and the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

CleanEdison is an approved training provider for the Colorado State Energy Sector Partnership. Energy Scholarships for training with CleanEdison will be awarded to workers in Colorado who want to earn certificates or add to their education in order to meet consumer-demand for energy efficiency and renewable energy installation and service.

"Colorado's training program shows that state policy-makers really have an understanding of what American businesses need right now," said Lauren Carson, Vice President of CleanEdison. "By offering training directly to existing contractors, along with their new hires, Colorado clearly understands how vital it is for existing industry to pivot their product & service offerings toward energy efficiency and renewable energy technology."

CleanEdison offers BPI Certification, LEED Exam preparation and Entry-Level NABCEP Solar PV and Solar Thermal training courses throughout the country. Classes for the Colorado State Energy Sector Partnership are available in Boulder, Denver, Grand Junction and Colorado Springs (please visit www.cleanedison.com to find a class near you). Please contact CleanEdison workforce development specialists for more information on how to participate in this program. CleanEdison has educated hundreds of companies and thousands of individuals in green building practices, both through workforce development programs and the largest open enrollment program in the nation.
