Transifex Secures $4 Million in New Funding, Plans to Grow Engineering Team in Greece

Investment Marks Importance of Localization for Companies to Reach Global Audiences

MENLO PARK, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 8, 2015) - Greece-born Transifex, a leading Localization Automation Platform (LAP) provider for modern technology companies and Open Source communities alike, today announced it has secured $4 million in Series A funding, led by Toba Capital with participation from seed VC investors NEA, Arafura Ventures and angels, including Parse founder Ilya Sukhar. This round will be used to continue to innovate in product development and expand marketing and sales to support its momentum in the localization automation market.

"We're expanding our engineering and design team in Athens, and doubling its size in 2015," said Dimitris Glezos, CEO and founder of Transifex. "We will continue investing in the talent of Greece despite of the current economic situation."

Transifex brings localization into the DevOps era. It has emerged as a new and agile way for organizations to both scale and accelerate the process of localizing fast-changing content, such as software, into multiple languages. Its developer-centric approach to management, storage, collaboration, and real-time monitoring allows commercial and nonprofit organizations to launch products and content in multiple languages without slowing down the development speed.

"In today's global economy, successful companies do business outside their own borders," said Glezos. "Recent studies show that in order to reach 90% of online audiences, today's companies need to localize their content into over 25 languages, with that number nearly doubling by 2020. Transifex's vision is to enable developers to localize apps and digital content from day one so they can deliver it in consumers' native languages."

"Today's companies know that to be competitive they need to localize, and the responsibility of localization increasingly falls on developers," said Rob Meinhardt, Partner at Toba Capital. "Transifex's developer-centric approach to localization means companies that make localization a part of their development process will be able to launch products and content in multiple languages without slowing down their development speed. This is crucial for any team looking to succeed across borders."
