Transit Agencies Macatawa Area Transit (MI), Nankin Transit (MI) and Wake Coordinated Transportation Services (NC) Win Excellence in Action Awards at RouteMatch Software User Conference


ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - Nov 17, 2015) - RouteMatch announced the winners of its Excellence in Action awards at the company's Annual User Conference held in Atlanta, Ga.

The Excellence in Action awards recognize RouteMatch clients who have demonstrated achievement in measurable efficiencies and effectiveness using RouteMatch technology. Judging was performed by more than 300 peer transit professionals who attended the conference.

The three categories were: Outstanding Performance-Rural Transit System, Outstanding Performance- Urban Transit System and Innovation in Improving the Rider Experience. Judging criteria included positive performance, staff use of technology, impact on solving challenges, improved care and quality of rider service, and demonstration of a best practice that can be adopted by other transit systems.

Macatawa Area Express- winner of Outstanding Performance - Urban Transit System category

Macatawa Area Express in Holland, MI has been using RouteMatch for 11 years for the agency's demand response and fixed route operations. The agency operates 30 buses and implemented tablets for automated vehicle location (AVL) which made a profound difference to drivers and resulted in 95% on time performance. Tablets have been used to help drivers more accurately locate addresses, cutting down on late arrival times and inefficiencies. The tablets have also helped with capturing automated passenger counts, fare box reporting and enabled the organization to go completely paperless in early 2015. Validating runs and generating reports can be done in just minutes, helping the agency comply with the Federal Transit Administration's National Transit Database (NTD) requirements.

Wake Coordinated Transportation Service/TRACS - winner of Outstanding Performance - Rural Transit System category

Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, TRACS operates a shared coordinated mobility management program. The agency has experienced multiple efficiencies since implementing RouteMatch. The agency doubled productivity immediately after adopting RouteMatch's ITS technology and rider complaints dropped by 25%. On time performance rose by more than 13 percentile points after installation and continues to improve. Same day cancellation rates have dropped more than two-thirds since implementing RouteMatch's Notification module (technology that performs automated night before reminder calls) and no show rates continue to decline. Nankin Transit - winner of Innovation in Improving the Rider Experience category

Westland, Michigan-based Nankin Transit uses RouteMatch Software to improve communication, efficiency, and service throughout their transportation endeavors. The agency has increased ridership by 3,000 more rides which was a 14% increase; farebox revenue also increased by 15%. During the same time, the agency experienced a 10% reduction in passenger no shows and on time performance now sits at 93.5%. Prior to RouteMatch, Nankin Transit was only able to schedule two days in advance and were unable to schedule for same day appointments through the agency's 10 vehicles. Now, the agency schedules 10 days in advance with same day appointments offered, and much more.
