Transitio Expands Fleet With Eco-Friendly Itino Trains From Bombardier

VASTERAS, SWEDEN--(Marketwire - March 13, 2008) - Transitio has selected the BOMBARDIER ITINO 2 car diesel multiple unit to service increasing passenger volume on several lines in Sweden.

The BOMBARDIER ITINO trains exceed expectations of modern rail passengers. Their high performance in acceleration and deceleration shorten travel times and their spacious vestibules and wide doors ensure faster embarking/disembarking. The attractive exterior and interior of the vehicles, combined with innovatively shaped, large windows, create a bright and safe environment for passengers. The trains feature air-conditioning, low noise levels, and modern passenger information systems, which ensure optimal comfort for the users. The trains are also well adapted to the needs of travelers with reduced mobility, fulfilling the public transport disabled requirements of the future.

The Diesel Engine driving the ITINO trains, already today, complies with the EU Directive 2004/26/EC, Stage IIIB expected to become European law for railcar Diesel Engines from January 1, 2012. The new engines achieve a substantial reduction of nitric oxide, particles and carbon dioxide providing a good platform for sustainable mobility.

Bo Fredriksson President Transitio said: "These new trains not only complement our existing fleet of Itino trains but are designed to fulfill the new EU environmental requirements which we of course see as very important quality."

Bombardier's ITINO product family is a truly versatile concept adaptable to a wide range of customer needs. Some of the ITINO train users include Jonkopings Lanstrafik (10 trains), Tag i Bergslagen (2 trains), Varmlandstrafik (3 trains), Vasttrafik (5 trains) and the Rhein-Main transport group in Germany (26 trains).
