Transition Networks Adds Gigabit Option; Rounds Out Mini Media Conversion Product Portfolio

Offers Space-Saving Alternative for Copper-to-Fiber Conversion in 10/100/1000 Ethernet Networks

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwire - July 8, 2008) - Transition Networks Inc., the media conversion and switching expert, a wholly owned subsidiary of Communications Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: JCS), today announced the introduction of its new, miniature 10/100/1000 Ethernet media converter. These Gigabit converters provide a cost-effective method for integrating fiber optic cabling into 10/100/1000 UTP environments, while the miniature size offers a space-saving alternative to traditional media converters.

"Along with the current 10/100 Mini media converters, support for 10/100/1000 applications will allow us to offer even more solutions to our customers who are faced with physical space constraints. The Gigabit Mini is ideal for connecting 10/100/1000 devices to a gigabit backbone in these limited space applications," stated Patrick Schaber, Director of Marketing at Transition Networks.

Product Features and Configuration

Customers can choose from units supporting either multimode (M/GE-PSW-SX-01) or single mode (M/GE-PSW-LX-01) fiber, both with the SC fiber interface connector.
