Transition Networks Releases HP Compatible Small Form Pluggable Transceivers

Devices Allow Easy Fiber Connections to ProCurve Switches

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwire - September 29, 2009) - Transition Networks Inc., the switching and conversion technology expert, a wholly owned subsidiary of Communications Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: JCS), today announced the introduction of its new HP compatible, C version, Small Form Pluggable (SFP) transceivers. The transceivers are designed for bi-directional optical data communication with support for 802.3z Gigabit Ethernet and Gigabit Fiber Channel applications at speeds up to 1.25 Gbps. With this announcement, Transition Networks rounds out its series of SFP optical transceivers.

The 1000Base-SX transceiver transmits on 850nm multimode fiber and the 1000Base-LX/LH transceivers transmit on single mode fiber up to 80km. The newly released HP compatible SFP is fully compatible with original HP SFPs and can be used in any SFP module on HP ProCurve switches that support original HP SFPs. In addition, the transceiver can be used in any industry standard networking equipment which complies with Multi-Sourcing Agreement.
