The Company Will Educate on Current Trends & Benefits of PoE

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwire - September 15, 2009) - Transition Networks Inc., the switching and conversion technology expert, a wholly owned subsidiary of Communications Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: JCS), today announced that Product Manager Art Felgate will be presenting at the BICSI Fall Conference & Exhibition, to be held September 20-24, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. The presentation, titled "Power over Ethernet Defined," is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, 2009 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Years ago if you asked a network installer if a power cable and a data cable could be run in the same conduit they would say no. Today, the answer is quite different. With Power over Ethernet (PoE), power and data can be run over the same four pair Category 5 cable. The driving force behind this change: 802.3af. It defines how devices can be made to supply and accept power over data cable.

The presentation will focus on the components of Power over Ethernet: What makes it work?; What applications are best suited for PoE?; How to get the most from PoE; and What is the current state of PoE.
