Transport Canada: Appointment to the Sept-Iles Port Authority

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 22, 2010) - Canada's Transport Minister John Baird today announced the appointment of Ms. Manon Langlois of Sept-Îles, Quebec, to the board of directors of the Sept-Îles Port Authority.

"I am very pleased that Ms. Langlois has agreed to serve on the board of the Sept-Îles Port Authority," said Baird. "Her public relations and financial skills will be a considerable asset to the board."

After graduating from Université Laval with a degree in public communications and administration, Ms. Langlois joined La Société de protection des forêts contre les insectes et maladies in 1995 as director of communications. From 1997 to 2002, she worked as an economic development officer for the Community Futures Development Corporation, before joining the Royal Bank of Canada in 2002 as senior director of commercial financial services.

The Sept-Îles Port Authority is the Canada Port Authority (CPA) established to manage the Port of Sept-Îles under the Canada Marine Act. Seventeen CPAs now make up Canada's national port system. The CPAs are non-share capital corporations incorporated under the Canada Marine Act and are of strategic significance to Canada's trade. Their effective operation contributes to Canada's global competitiveness as a trading nation.
