TravBuddy, a Social Network for Travelers, Named Official Honoree by Webby Awards

REDONDO BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - April 21, 2009) - TravBuddy (http://www.travbuddy.com), a social networking website for travelers, was recognized as one of the top websites on the Internet by the 2009 Webby Awards.

The site was named an "Official Honoree" in the "Social Networking" category.

The Webby Awards are presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. According to the academy's website, http://www.webbyawards.com, the Webby Awards have been hailed as "the only award show for Internet sites that matters" by The Los Angeles Times and "the Internet's highest honor" by the The New York Times.

Out of nearly 10,000 entries, only 15% of entries received Official Honoree status. Only 11 entries in the Social Networking category received this distinction.

"Given the high caliber of the competition, especially in a field as competitive as social networking, we are extremely proud of this achievement," says Eric Bjorndahl, CEO of TravBuddy. "Although we aren't as big as many social networking websites, we are focused exclusively on travelers, and this provides unique value for our members."

This is the second consecutive year in which TravBuddy has earned Official Honoree recognition. In 2008, TravBuddy was selected as an Official Honoree in the "Travel" category.
