Travel Alberta Gives Media a "Sneak Preview" to The 2010 Winter Games

Travel Alberta has unveiled, a dedicated media website housing a wealth of photos, videos, story angles, competition venue information, and athlete interviews. This site spotlights Alberta's unique and interesting role as training ground for athletes from around the world competing in the 2010 Games, Alberta's legacy facilities from the 1988 Winter Games, Alberta's torch relay celebration communities, and Alberta's wealth of world class sports tourism activities and amenities. All content is available free to media, to enrich their coverage of the upcoming World Cup events taking place in Alberta. In many instances, participating World Cup athletes will be competing for their final time before they head to Vancouver and Whistler, making the World Cups a true preview of the Games and its rising stars.

Top athletes from around the world will travel to Alberta to compete in the following seven thrilling World Cups taking place throughout the province's stunning winter landscape:

  • FIL Luge World Cup, Canada Olympic Park, Calgary - November 20-21, 2009
  • FIS Alpine World Cup (Men), Lake Louise - November 28-29, 2009
  • FIS Alpine World Cup (Women), Lake Louise - December 4-6, 2009
  • ISU Speed Skating World Cup, Olympic Oval, Calgary - December 4-6, 2009
  • FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup (Freestyle skiing), Canada Olympic Park, Calgary - January 8-10, 2010
  • FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup (Snowboarding), Canada Olympic Park, Calgary - January 29-31, 2010
  • FIS Cross Country Ski World Cup, Canmore - February 4-7, 2010

In addition to the above events, December 6-13, Alberta will also play host to the Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings, where men's and women's curling teams from across Canada will compete for the chance to represent Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
