Travelex Bring a Slice of Paradise to the Manchester Arndale

- Travelex and Tina O'Brien bring a 'Paradise Beach' to Manchester Arndale

- Live currency games give participants the chance to win £100s

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Oct. 26, 2012) - Travelex celebrated their new arrival as currency providers at Manchester Airport by bringing a 'Paradise Beach' to Manchester.

Ex-Coronation Street star Tina O'Brien was on hand to help shoppers at Manchester Arndale-Manchester's biggest retail complex - be in with the chance of winning cash prizes, as well as have their photos taken on Travelex's 'Paradise Beach' - a little slice of holiday heaven in the heart of the centre.

Visitors to the Travelex stand had their photos shot against various dream backgrounds, whilst standing on a real-life beach - complete with genuine sand. Key 103 presenter Fiona Sadler attended, getting the crowds hyped for the currency exchange games which were running throughout the day - giving those who took part a chance to win up to £100 each.

Elvin Eldić from Travelex comments: "We are incredibly excited to be partnering with Manchester Airport as their foreign currency provider once again. We wanted to celebrate, and there is no better way to do this than to bring that special holiday feeling to the heart of Manchester. Our 'Paradise Beach' gave visitors an opportunity to feel like they're getting away, and with the chance to win real money, they may very well be able to do just that."

The event came as research from the leading foreign exchange specialist reveals that Tenerife has topped the list of most popular locations for Mancunians going abroad this half term, with record numbers flying to the resort.

Dubai and Amsterdam were second and third respectively, whilst Abu Dhabi has seen a spike in passenger numbers of 35%. With the Pound up just over 3% against the Dirham compared to last October, it means holidaymakers will receive an extra £15 for every £500 exchanged.

Other popular destinations for holidaymakers from Manchester were found to be Malaga and Paris, with year on year increases in passengers of 7.9% and 8.3% respectively.
