LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - March 8, 2012) - Travel giant, Thomas Cook, the UK's favourite holiday provider, has launched today the biggest multimedia advertising campaign ever undertaken by the company, with the strapline 'It Is A Wonderful World. Explore It With Us'.

Designed to showcase the amazing diversity of destinations visible through its stunning television advert, the trusted travel brand hopes this innovative campaign will also allow customers to interact with the global concept online via social media sites such as Facebook and Thomas Cook's own blog.

With an edgy backing soundtrack provided by Joey Ramone, who covers the inspirational song a "Wonderful World", the 40 second advert is set to wow with a collection of unique, exciting and memorable shots from around the world. The theme "It Is A Wonderful World" also draws inspiration from the exploring and pioneering spirit of the package holiday company's founder, Mr Thomas Cook, and launches in the 140th anniversary year since Mr Cook embarked on his first round-the-world tour.

The multi-platform campaign for the travel company, which boast a host of deals for cheap holidays to countries from Spain to Mexico, launches across channels today, 8 March.

Thomas Cook's social media communities can grab a sneak preview before the ad's launch tonight. It makes its TV debut during Emmerdale on ITV and Location Location on Channel 4.

Speaking about the exciting launch, Phil Aird-Mash, Co-Chief Executive Officer for Thomas Cook, said: "Whilst it is unprecedented for a travel company to embark on such a wide-reaching campaign at this time of year, for us it means we'll really stand out and our voice will be clearly heard. We are well known as a summer sun operator but our DNA is as a retailer and we wanted to make sure that we're just as well known for this too.

To mark the launch of the campaign Thomas Cook has announced it will be running its biggest Facebook competition to date, giving people the chance to win the holiday of their dreams - be that a round-the-world tour, family trip to Disney with VIP treatment, a holiday for the extended family in Devon, or a tailor-made itinerary.

The competition is designed to find a deserving winner who embodies that same exploring spirit as Thomas Cook the man himself, and someone who wants to share their experiences with others. To enter, people must upload a photo of themselves to the Thomas Cook Facebook page, which shows them enjoying their 'wonderful world' and depicts their exploring spirit.

The advert includes over 60 distinctive shots from around the world. Shots vary from the immediately obvious destinations shots, to families and couples having fun on holiday. All the shots were chosen very carefully to ensure that every single second of the 40 is compelling and attention grabbing.
