TRC Awarded Design/Build Project for Coalfields Expressway

Company Is Prime Design Consultant for Bizzack Construction Project in West Virginia

LOWELL, MA--(Marketwired - Jan 29, 2014) - TRC Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRR) is part of a team with Bizzack Construction, LLC that has been awarded a design/build project by the West Virginia Division of Highways. TRC will serve as the prime design consultant for the $13.5 million project, which includes the grading and drainage of a new section of the Coalfields Expressway in southern West Virginia. When complete, the new expressway will connect with existing highways in the area, resulting in safer, shorter commutes for motorists.

"TRC is proud to support Bizzack Construction on this project to implement a design build strategy for the West Virginia Division of Highways," said Chris Vincze, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "Together we are dedicated to improving the safety and longevity of important transportation routes in the State."

The existing two-lane roadway has many deficiencies, including a high percentage of "No Passing" zones, and numerous steep grades and reduced-speed zones. The new road will link Interstates 64 and 77 in West Virginia with Route 83 in Virginia, which further links to interstates in Kentucky and Tennessee. The new expressway will improve mobility and safety and support economic development, including increased tourism.

As prime design consultant for the project, TRC will be leading the effort for the roadway alignment design, drainage design and overall management of the geotechnical design for the project. In addition, TRC will lead the construction quality control and inspection for the project.
