TRC to Support New York Power Authority in Queens Power Plant Decommissioning

Company Will Oversee the Design and Planning Work

LOWELL, MA--(Marketwire - September 21, 2010) -  TRC Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRR) today announced that it has been awarded a $1.2 million contract by the New York Power Authority (NYPA) for engineering services during decommissioning of a generating unit at the Charles Poletti Power Project in Astoria, NY. The Power Authority ceased operations at the more than three-decade-old plant in January 2010. Under a 2002 agreement, The Power Authority committed to construct a state-of-the-art clean-generating unit at the same site in Astoria, which became operational in December 2005.

"This project is an example of services provided under our RE Power™ initiative, designed to service the comprehensive needs of power plant operators."

Under the contract, TRC will provide design, engineering, planning and construction management services, including pre-demolition site investigation; design of construction documents for the future demolition project; recommendations to effectively implement the work; and recommendations of action for existing plant auxiliary buildings that are no longer required.
