Tree Island Steel Executive Announcement


VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - July 27, 2016) - Tree Island Steel Ltd. ("Tree Island" or the "Company") (TSX:TSL) As a result of the continued growth of Tree Island, the Company is pleased to announce that effective September 1, 2016, Remy Stachowiak has been named Chief Operating Officer and will continue to report to Dale R. MacLean, President and CEO. Mr. Stachowiak, previously the Vice President, Sales and Marketing, will assume responsibility for the operations as well as the marketing and customer services functions. Mr. Stachowiak will be responsible for the alignment and prioritization of market and customer delivery, and ensuring operational excellence across the company.

Mr. Stachowiak served in the position of Vice President, Sales and Marketing since joining the company in January 2013. He brings with him more than 28 years of leadership experience to his new Tree Island executive position; prior to joining Tree Island, he most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer and President of STT Stanco (a Division of Semcan Inc.), a company that provides integrated chemical handling systems for Air and Water pollution control, as well as, liquid storage. Prior to this role, Remy had a successful career with Siemens where he gained extensive experience both in Canada, and internationally, leading business development throughout North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He is also very well versed in the Steel Industry, spending the first seven years of his career with Stelco Inc. as a Research Investigator and R&D Group Leader. He has a strong technical background in mechanical engineering in addition to sales and marketing. His education includes a Masters of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from McMaster University, and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering (with Honours) from the University of British Columbia.
