Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Launches New High-Temperature Zurcon® Z25 Polyurethane Material

Offers Excellent Viscoelasticity and High Tensile Strength at Extreme Temperatures

FORT WAYNE, IN--(Marketwire - March 15, 2011) -  Trelleborg Sealing Solutions (STKM: TREL-B) has developed a proprietary polyurethane compound: Zurcon® Z25. It demonstrates all the characteristics of industry-leading Zurcon® grade Z20 with an elevated operating temperature up to +130°C / +270°F.

Zurcon® Z25 is recommended for all hydraulic applications where high-temperature performance is required due to its improved extrusion resistance and compression set. The material is ideal for use in heavy duty cylinder sealing applications, where it can guarantee a long service life. These include industrial and mobile applications with limited cooling systems or cylinders exposed to high-temperature painting processes.

"Zurcon® Z25 is a significant advancement in the field of polyurethane sealing technology," says Joe Woods, fluid power segment manager for Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Americas. "It allows for the production of high-performance seals that can be commercially and technically competitive. This translates to better equipment performance for our customers."

Self-energizing, Zurcon® Z25 operates at pressures up to 40MPa/ 5,800psi without a Back-up Ring. It is suitable for use in all hydraulic fluids and has a low compression set. It has an MDI (diphenylmethane diisocyanate) material base and is suitable for rotary applications such as swivel joints, where heat is generated by high pressures and low speeds.

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions is one of the world's leading developers, manufacturers and suppliers of precision seals. It supports its aerospace, industrial and automotive customers through more than 20 production facilities and more than 40 marketing companies globally. Within its portfolio are some of the longest established sealing brands, including Busak+Shamban, Chase Walton, Dowty, Forsheda, GNL, Palmer Chenard, Shamban, Skega and Stefa, along with a large number of proprietary products and materials such as Turcon®, Zurcon®, Orkot®, Isolast®, Stepseal® and Wills Rings®.
