TRI Pointe Homes Names Key Executives in Northern and Southern California

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - Dec 12, 2012) -  To accelerate its rapid growth and continue to lead a new generation of homebuilders, TRI Pointe Homes has bolstered its management team with two key executive appointments. Jeffrey D. Frankel, who was previously Vice President, Division Manager for Northern California, has been promoted to Division President for Northern California, and Brian L. Sinderhoff has joined TRI Pointe as Vice President of Land Acquisition for its Southern California region.

Frankel will focus on fostering and expanding the company's work throughout the northern part of the state with an initial emphasis on communities in and around the San Francisco Bay area.

"The Bay area presents some of the best opportunities home builders and developers have in these challenging times," Frankel observed. "This is an active marketplace, one in which households continue to grow and job possibilities are increasing as well. TRI Pointe Homes is in a strong position to capitalize on those opportunities."

TRI Pointe Homes Principal Douglas Bauer noted, "We intend to build at least 300 new homes every year for the next five years in the East Bay and South Bay areas, targeting the best locations with optimum pricing in our target markets. Jeff's expertise in market-based acquisitions will help guide our strategy in identifying and acquiring the right properties and delivering the right product for the right market at the right time."

Frankel has a strong background in both finance and homebuilding. Prior to joining TRI Pointe Homes, he worked for William Lyon Homes, Bank of America and Comerica Bank serving in various capacities over his 15-year career in the real estate industry. He was a Vice President for both Bank of America and Comerica Bank prior to joining William Lyon Homes, where his focus was primarily on land acquisition and project management. Key responsibilities included pre-development activities such as acquisition, entitlements, site planning and product development. Frankel has extensive experience with both single-family and multi-family developments and was part of the Bay Area team that surpassed profits of $100,000,000 in consecutive years.

Sinderhoff will play a key role in expanding TRI Pointe Homes' growth in Southern California, where the company has achieved dramatic success since its founding in 2009.

"Brian brings a unique skill set in all aspects of residential development to the TRI Pointe management team," stated Tom Mitchell, president and CEO of TRI Pointe Homes. "His experience will be critical in implementing our fundamental business strategy, which is driven by four key principles: acquiring attractive land positions, increasing our position in growth markets, providing superior design and homeowner experience and service, and meeting the needs of a broad spectrum of home buyers with a diversity of product offerings."

With more than 30 years of experience in the real estate industry, Sinderhoff spent 25 of those years with Warmington Homes, where he served as president of the company's Southern California division from 1996 to 2011. During his time with Warmington he was responsible for the acquisition of approximately 4,500 lots with a transaction value in excess of $1 billion. In addition his division built, sold and closed over 1,500 homes with revenues of approximately $1.5 billion.

Sinderhoff stated, "My overall goal is to lead the land acquisition effort in Southern California and expand TRI Pointe Homes' presence in the market by targeting opportunities that will provide for new communities starting in 2013. My focus will be on the quality of each opportunity and how we can maximize the potential of each community. I will be exploring properties from Ventura to San Diego and considering the full spectrum of housing types, from condos to luxury move-up."

Sinderhoff also noted, "I decided to join the TRI Pointe Homes team because of their values as individuals and as a company, their growth strategy, the quality of the communities they build, their financial strength, and their focus on providing outstanding customer service."

Sinderhoff, who is a marathon runner, graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor's degree in geography with an emphasis in urban planning and environmental resources.
