Triacta Power Technologies Inc. Initiates Litigation Against Dextek Inc. and Sieco-Tech Canada Inc. for Patent and Copyright Infringement

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 1, 2010) - Triacta Power Technologies Inc. today announced that it has initiated litigation against Dextek Inc. and Sieco-Tech Canada Inc., both of North Bay, Ontario, for copyright and patent infringement. The suit was filed Monday, November 29, 2010 in the Federal Court of Canada.

In its Statement of Claim, Triacta claims that Dextek and Sieco-Tech have infringed Triacta's copyright in certain marketing material. Triacta also claims that use of the defendants' PowerStar 2007 PS2007-24 and MorningStar Multi-Tenant Smart Platform infringes Triacta's Canadian Patent No. 2,450,984 for "Method and Apparatus for Monitoring Power Consumption on Power Distribution Circuits for Centralized Analysis".

"We are taking this action to protect our intellectual property, developed in Canada, and the value of our products to our Canadian and international customers," said Wes Biggs, President and CEO, Triacta. "We believe in healthy competition and that the emergence of competition validates the market. However, that competition should be based on innovation not duplication".

Triacta is represented by Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP, one of Canada's largest law firms with core strength in IP litigation and a pre-eminent IP litigation practice.
