Triangle Provides Update on its Canadian Projects

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - April 10, 2006) - Triangle Petroleum Corporation (OTCBB:TPLM) (the "Company" or "Triangle") is pleased to announce the following developments in its wholly owned subsidiary, Elmworth Energy Corporation ("Elmworth").

Ansell Project

Elmworth has earned a 25% working interest in a 25.5 section block (approximately 16,000 acres) in the Ansell area of the Deep Basin by participation in the initial drilling program. The area is prospective for upper Cretaceous sandstones reservoirs in addition to Mannville coal bed methane. A completion program for the second well is currently under review with field work to commence following spring break-up.

Elmworth Project

The second 120 sq. mile 3-D trade seismic acquisition phase is complete. This data set has been merged with the initial 120 sq. mile 3-D data volume. Elmworth has licensed a well and built a location at 08-19-066-08W6. Weather related circumstances and service industry scheduling have delayed the spud date to later this year. An offsetting section of land to the licensed well location was purchased earlier this year at an Alberta Crown land sale. Jervey Geological Consulting has concluded its study, review and assessment of the hydrocarbon potential within the expanded 3-D seismic area. The results of this study along with the seismic re-processing and interpretations currently underway will form the basis for the exploration plan in this project.

Canadian Shale Gas Project Screening

Elmworth is participating in a joint industry effort to assess prospective Canadian Shale Gas project areas. The study will include core and sample examination along with specialized new laboratory measurements. Methods previously established in the United States will serve as a basis for screening prospective Canadian shale gas areas and opportunities. Elmworth will directly apply experience gained by Triangle USA's active participation in its Barnett Shale drilling program.

Ron Hietala, President of Elmworth stated, "A key the goal of the company is to joint venture with other industry partners seeking to balance traditional opportunity types with growth orientated unconventional projects".
