VANCOUVER, BC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 16, 2005 -- CityXpress Corp., a company whose online marketplaces have generated more than $80 million in revenue for newspapers in the past three years, today announced that its eMarketplaceXpress platform has been chosen by Tribune Interactive and Classified, a division of Tribune Company (NYSE: TRB), to host the expansion of its Los Angeles-based to 12 additional cities.

eMarketplaceXpress is a complete online classified marketplace that enables newspapers to create free and low-cost online classified marketplaces in order to compete directly in their local markets with free-listing services. Features include online ad-taking and payment options, e-commerce transaction capabilities, vendor storefronts, browse and proximity search capabilities, and a listing feedback system.

"eMarketplaceXpress' e-commerce features and ability to build a comparison tool made it a good fit for our expansion," said Julianna Cole, Tribune Interactive and Classified vice president/merchandise and classified technology. "CityXpress has been a great company to work with and is helping us provide consumers with a fun, flexible online shopping experience."

The expanded sites feature an online comparison tool that allows users to preview selected listings from other sites, including local newspaper listings and listings from other online classified Web sites, and "Browse and Buy" e-commerce functionality to facilitate buyer-seller transactions. The site will offer sellers several different packages, such as a free 50-character headline, 2,000-character description, one main photo and one additional photo listing for 14 days. Other packages offer value-added features such as additional photos and e-commerce functionality for an additional fee.

"Free online sites are having an impact on newspapers' classified revenues and many publishers are exploring new ways to expand their classified offerings," said Phil Dubois, president and CEO of CityXpress. "eMarketplaceXpress is the first product that offers a robust and scaleable platform, with capabilities second to none."

Tribune debuted in New York, Baltimore, Dallas, Houston, Seattle, St. Louis, Indianapolis, New Orleans and Allentown, Pa. in early May. The company will roll out to Chicago, Orlando and Hartford in the coming weeks.
