Trimel Releases CompleoTRT™ Phase III Data

Partial Study Results Demonstrate Efficacy

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 29, 2012) - Trimel Pharmaceuticals Corporation (TSX:TRL) ("Trimel or "the Company") announced today it has completed a preliminary review of early data from the Company's ongoing Phase III clinical trial. The preliminary review of early data demonstrated that 79.9% of patients treated with CompleoTRT™ achieved an average serum testosterone ("AST") level within the normal range. These results exceed the threshold required by the US Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") to confirm the efficacy of a testosterone replacement product.

CompleoTRT™ is in development for the treatment of male hypogonadism, a condition that is estimated to affect more than 13 million men in the United States, with only 10 percent currently receiving treatment according to the latest epidemiological data.

The preliminary data was obtained from 139 hypogonadal patients who had completed 30 days treatment and laboratory analysis. Patients will be dosed for an additional 60 days and then be reanalyzed for a total of 90 days of treatment. Within the patient sample, 107 patients were treated with CompleoTRT™ on a twice-daily ("BID") dosing regimen, the balance on a three-time daily ("TID") regimen. After 30 days of CompleoTRT™ treatment, the BID and TID treatment groups, both independently and collectively, achieved a percentage of patients with AST levels that exceed the FDA efficacy threshold for a testosterone replacement product.

The study is ongoing and complete data, including statistical analysis for all patient groups, is expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2012. The complete efficacy and safety data package will be included in the final study analysis and will be part of the New Drug Application that the Company expects to file with the FDA at the end of 2012 / early 2013.

"We are excited by the positive results reported from our preliminary review of the Phase III early study data; these results are in-line with internal expectations. The preliminary patient results seen at this meaningful time point in the progress of the study, supports the veracity of the predictive modelling that guided the development of the study protocol," said Bruce D. Brydon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We look forward to sharing this early positive data with prospective partners."

Mr Brydon also shared the following comment: "Our decision to review and analyze the in-process study data was supported by continued positive investigator feedback regarding the overall patient experience with CompleoTRT™. One of our key investigators, Dr. Jeffrey Rosen, offered the follow insight: "CompleoTRT™ is a promising option for men seeking testosterone replacement therapy. CompleoTRT™ works well for my patients in the study, even the most difficult to treat who did not like the other therapies. Patients report that they feel better on this investigational product as compared to previous therapy including topical and injectables."

About CompleoTRT

CompleoTRT™ is designed to represent a significant advancement in the treatment of male hypogonadism, or low testosterone - commonly known as "Low T". CompleoTRT™'s unique delivery technology is designed to provide patients with the therapeutic effect of supplementing testosterone levels while doing so with a small amount of drug in the form of a bio-adhesive intranasal gel.

CompleoTRT™'s intranasal no-touch delivery system is designed to avoid the risk of accidental transfer (secondary transference) of testosterone to spouses or other family members, thus offering unique patient benefits and improved safety as compared to other currently marketed products indicated to treat "Low T". Moreover, CompleoTRT™ is designed to avoid the negative effects from first-pass metabolism on the product, liver, or both.

Since Trimel took over development in May 2009, CompleoTRT™ has been optimized to meet FDA regulatory requirements, including the development of a no-touch applicator device that is designed to ensure that CompleoTRT™ is dosed accurately and discretely. Trimel's research program to date has demonstrated that CompleoTRT™ is safe and effective, having recorded over 10,000 drug exposures in the studies conducted thus far in the United States.

About Hypogonadism ("Low T")

Subject to FDA approval, Trimel's lead product candidate, CompleoTRT™, would be indicated for the treatment of male hypogonadism or low testosterone - commonly known as "Low T." Hypogonadism is a biochemical syndrome characterized by a deficiency in serum testosterone levels that can be either acquired or inherited, and seriously affects the quality of life for those affected with the syndrome. Low testosterone is estimated to affect 13 million men in the United States, of which an estimated 90% go untreated. According to IMS Health, sales of marketed treatments for low testosterone in North America grew 24% in 2011 versus 2010 to now exceed $1.6 billion in annual sales volume.
