True North Gems Extracts Bulk Sample at Fiskenaesset Ruby Project

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 13, 2007) - True North Gems (TSX VENTURE:TGX) is pleased to announce the successful collection of two bulk samples, weighing more than 55 tonnes, from the Aappaluttoq ruby and pink sapphire occurrence on the Company's 110 km2 Fiskenaesset Ruby Project, located on the southwest coast of Greenland. The bulk sample collection program is still active and additional tonnage is expected.

The planned 85 to 95 tonne bulk sample is being extracted from two contiguous areas on the Aappaluttoq ruby occurrence. To date, an estimated 25 tonnes has been collected from the in-place bedrock and an approximate 30 tonnes from the overlying weathered bedrock. The in-place bedrock sample was collected using diamond chain saws to ensure grade and width control, and to confirm grade and stone distribution data garnered from 2006 exploration. The in-place bedrock sample represents the most significant ruby and pink sapphire-bearing interval at the Aappaluttoq occurrence, measuring between one and two metres in width. The trench exposed by bedrock sampling is located from 1-3 metres down dip and up to 4 metres along strike in the area of the 2006 bulk sample. The weathered sample was collected from an area measuring 5 metres by 20 metres directly above several ruby-bearing intervals within the folded and altered ultramafic rocks at Aappaluttoq.

True North has now prepared the outcrop area, measuring 5 metres along strike, adjoining the in-place bedrock sample. In this area, the remaining bulk sample will be collected using low intensity blasting to extract the additional 30-40 tonnes for comparative analysis of the gemmological criteria and gemstone conditions under typical mining conditions. The Company will proceed immediately upon receipt of the requisite blasting permits. Processing will be carried out at the Company's facility in Fiskenaesset.

Additionally, True North is collecting mini-bulk and channel samples from several other ruby and pink sapphire occurrences identified during the 2006 and 2007 mapping and prospecting programs. Sampling is ongoing and transport to Fiskenaesset by helicopter for processing is underway.

The 2007 exploration program was implemented with the principal objective of delivering a Preliminary Assessment on the Aappaluttoq ruby occurrence, the most promising occurrence identified to date. Bulk sampling and detailed drilling, the two key program components, are underway in parallel at Aappaluttoq. An update on the 2007 drilling program will be provided shortly.

The planning and execution of the ruby exploration and quality control programs at the Fiskenaesset Ruby Project are under the supervision of Greg Davison, True North Gems' VP Exploration. Mr. Davison is a Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. Wardrop Engineering has been engaged to act as Independent Qualified Person to provide site due diligence, project oversight and quality assurance, and the preparation of the Preliminary Assessment of the Aappaluttoq ruby occurrence.
