True North Gems Starts $1.08 million Baffin Island Sapphire Exploration Program

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - June 28, 2005) - True North Gems Inc. (TSX VENTURE:TGX) is pleased to announce the commencement of the $1.08 million sapphire exploration program at the Company's Beluga property located on Baffin Island, Canada.

The objective of the 2005 field season will be to define and delineate the Beluga sapphire occurrence using diamond drilling and mini-bulk sampling. True North plans to drill a total of 2000 metres in 40 closely spaced core holes, including drilling to test the down-dip continuity and depth potential of the outcropping sapphire mineralization. The Company will test for gemstone grade and value by means of a 100 to 500 tonne mini-bulk sample of sapphire-bearing material collected at the surface.

The successful completion of saturation core drilling, contiguous with surface bulk sampling, will provide the foundation for a preliminary resource assessment compliant with NI 43-101.

In 2004, a 4.29 tonne mini-bulk sample was collected from the Beluga sapphire deposit. The bulk of this material remains engaged in processing and manufacturing experiments. Final valuations of the finished stones are expected in the fourth quarter of 2005.
